Customer Reviews
Absolutely love my bike and it's such a smooth ride!
This is my first dip into biking really since I was young and putting together the bike to getting it on the move everything was simple and straightforward and I'm enjoying the bike so much
So far it's been great. Minor issue with a missing part (Screw for the front fender) otherwise I'd have given 5 stars for sure!
The only thing I wish was different, was a way to sync up the various PAS levels. Specifically, I have another KOA (older version) and this bikes PAS1 and the older bikes PAS1 are vastly different in speed. The maximum speed (20mph) is nearly identical and we seldom ride at that speed, but.... would be nice if there was a way to make both bikes have the same settings for the various PAS levels of 1-6
Bought this bike due to the already great reviews. And everything from assembly to using the bike has been super easy and it rides completely smooth right out of the box! I plan to use this for hunting and just around the neighborhood and so far I've seen nothing that would prevent me from doing either. Bike shifts great and the system is easy to learn and use. Definitely recommend this bike to anyone looking to adventure out.
This E-Bike surpassed even my highest expectations! I love taking this out to run errands adding a little more fun to a regular day. People are constantly asking to ride it when they come over and I've even gotten a few friends to buy one now. The color, tires and smooth ride make all the difference. What's not to love?!
Great power, but also not too much for an accident prone customer. Love the looks and ride is smooth and flawless.
I've had the bike all summer and used it quite a bit; it's a comfortable bike, especially for urban dirt trails. However, I wouldn't recommend taking it on a real mountain bike trail. I installed a rack on the back and strapped a milk crate to carry my waders, boots, and gear. I use it frequently to get to fishing spots and as a shuttle on raft trips. I've never pushed the battery past around 23 miles, and I'm not sure how many more miles it could go, given the bike's weight. That said, I don't pedal much when riding.
There are a few things to be aware of. The top tube is higher than you might expect, which can make mounting and dismounting tricky if you're not paying attention. If you have shorter legs, you might want to consider the step-through model. For reference, I'm 6'1 " with a 34-inch inseam. My only other complaint is that the bike isn't designed for easy installation of accessories. There's no place to install a water bottle cage, and finding a fat tire back rack that would work was a bit of a hassle. I would suggest that Retrospec invest some time in offering compatible accessories
Just got my bike, only rode it twice so far but like everything about it! I did get a different seat when I ordered it, very comfortable!
just rides rough, but the bike is fine for what I use it for.
Just got delivered yesterday. Box was pretty damaged all over, but the bike and all components were there and undamaged. Went together easily. I had to add a washer between the front axle bearing cone nut and the inside of the fork on the disc brake side to prevent the brake caliper from rubbing on the disc, but the washer fixed that issue. Getting familiar with the menus and settings on the controller, but love the way the different levels of pedal assist kick in and how you can just control it with the throttle if you want to. I'm 6'3 " and weigh 210 and it fits me fine and gets right up to 20mph. Looking forward to getting to know it better, but for $999, this is a great deal!
I'm living in a rural part of western Colorado so almost everything around me is dirt roads and lots of inclines. When I say I love this bike, I mean it! Now two friends have also tried it and they are very impressed with the ebike. I did add a seat cover for more comfort, as the original seat is pretty rigid and hard.
Great bike!
The best purchase I've ever made. So much fine, plenty of power and a very comfortable ride. I ride it multiple times a week and it can go for 40+ miles
Really like the bike but the original seat hurt my butt so I replaced it and the only other complaint is the rear fender isn't long enough to keep a streak of water from flying up my back. Please send me a longer rear fender. I have already convinced three of my friends to buy these bikes while they're still on sale.
I had been getting the itch for a fat tire electric bike. I bought a folding Ebike a year ago that was nice but I felt the steering was twitchy and top gear pedaled too fast at 20 mph. When I saw the lowered price and nice frame styling on this KOA I decided to go for it. The bike was not difficult to put together. Mainly handle bar and front wheel. I you-tubed Shimano gearing adjustment and tuned it in. Btw it has Altus shifter which is not the bottom of the barrel and it shifts perfectly. Made a slight adjustment to brakes. As others said, its not the most comfortable seat. It's OK but I had another seat so I swapped it. I really like the ride and the E assist. This is a heavy bike to pedal when not in assist mode. I tend to pedal strong and ride at mostly 15 to 20 mph. I use mainly assist level 3 or 4. Level 3 takes you to 15 mph and 4 takes you to 20. At 20 mph I found gear 8 works great with level 9 to pedal a bit slower. This to me is well sized / selected gearing for this bike. I do not use the throttle much except to start from a dead stop sometimes. This bike handles very well. Has a nice big bike ride. (not twitchy like the folding bike) I have done multiple 15 to 20 mile rides and seem to have about half the battery left ( with a 42 to 54V range) I expect I can get 30 to maybe 37 miles out of the charge the way I ride, which is mostly at 20. I think the styling is very cool and the battery removes very easily. Which is good because the bike does not require a key to operate it, only to remove the battery and I would not park this and leave the battery on it. . I have a small back pack so If I ride somewhere that I need to lock the bike, I can pull the battery and put in my backpack. I do not trust to take this on very rough trails as the battery mount is not as sturdy as the battery in frame style. But at this price this is a very nice bike. I would recommend this to anyone who rides basic paved and unpaved paths. Wish I could unlock the top speed though. I believe the controller is locked out for changing the speed. However the only time I would need the higher speed is when on main roads. Otherwise 20 mph is perfect for the paths shared with others. One last thing, I bought this with the intention to cover longer rides to farther destinations without killing myself. I love exploring and would rather bike than walk. This works perfect. Time to sell the folding bike!!
Very cool
I purchased 2 of these bikes for me and my wife. When they arrived at my house, one of the boxes appeared to have been damaged and re-taped. One box had all the parts and the damaged box was missing the pedals and charger. I did call the company the same day and spoke to customer service and they told me they would send it out the next business day. At the time of this review, I haven't received the parts yet, but it's only been a couple of days.
This is a great bike, it has plenty of power and 6 different levels of pedal assistance. They come mostly assembled minus a few things, but assembly was not hard. The bike feels really solid, my only complaints would be the wheel fenders are a little flimsy and the seat isn't the most comfortable. I do plan to order a more comfortable seat. One other issue I had with one bike is the front brake disc rubbed a little without applying the brakes. This could be just an adjustment issue. Other than that, it's a great bike and a joy to ride.
Those minor issues is why I gave it 4 stars and not 5. I would still recommend this bike.
I purchased this bike as a gift for my husband. He loves it. The bike arrived on time, was easy to assemble, and he rides it everywhere.
It could use a fatter seat
But it is awesome to ride and user friendly
Again great bike
I have been impressed with the quality and the ride. Everything works as it should and it has plenty of juice to get a big guy moving.
On arrival the box was damaged, a couple of pieces of hardware were missing, and there was a small scratch where the box was damaged. This was disappointing but not worth the effort to send back.
The bike has lived up to the hype and for the price is definitely a good buy.
He loves this bike
The first E bike I rode was in Japan and loved it but my new Koa Rev is hands down way better! I was shocked at the power and quick response of the motor! I've rode it everyday since I got it. The one thing I would suggest is they improve is the seat. I bought a new one aftermarket. The stock seat is very uncomfortable.
not too hard to put together. powerful motor. lacks security feature to lock the bike. fairly heavy (i knew this) but just letting you know.
This is my first ebike and I have to say I'm impressed. I got to try one 4 years ago and was amazed at how easy hills became. Once I saw this one on sale, I knew I had to pounce. Once I got it home, I found the assembly to be fairly easy. Some of the instructions for operating the system could be explained better, (such as switching from power to normal to eco modes). Other than that, the brakes seem slightly underpowered for such a heavy vehicle.
I did impress some college students when I rode my bike around them off-road so they didn't have to walk in mud. That was fun to hear their reactions.
Purchased this bike as I've been craving a fun toy. Easy to put together, the ride is smooth as can be and so much power to get you up hills smoothly and go fast on level terrain. Best purchase I've had so far !! A lot of fun
Shipment arrived one day early which was nice. Assembly instructions were good. It worked great no problem after assembly. The only concern I have is the explanation of the control panel. I don't know what PAS means, I don't know the difference on the battery control from power to ECO and there was no good explanation of the manual shifter.
The Rev+ rides great and has plenty of power for my usage. I typically pedal all the time so the range is seemingly infinite, I had to actually try to get the battery down. I'll be putting plenty of miles on it.
I like having both the throttle and the pedal assist, it comes in handy for slow obstacles where pedaling might be hazardous. It's also nice to get it going after stopping without needing to drop gears.
The assembly instructions could be better, but it's easy enough to figure out.
The Koa Rev+ is a beast! As a road bike it navigates like an 80s Cadillac. Off road it is going to take some getting used to. I took it into the canyons near my house and I wasn't prepared for all that power. I quickly realized I could just leave the pedal assist at level 1 since all you really need off road is a little helpful nudge every now and then. I ended up walking it over all the water crossings as to not end up in the drink. Climbing hills however was an absolute joy. The 2 second delay before the juice kicks in feels a bit delayed on the road but welcomed off road. I feel like I just need more trail time with it before I feel fully confident. I rode off-road for an hour and it still says the battery is full! Super happy with it and I can't wait to log more trail time!
This is my second Koa and I love the quality of the bike - it feels incredibly sturdy and well-made. The battery life is impressive, too. I've taken the bike on some long rides, and the battery has never let me down.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. Koa Plus is the perfect combination of style, performance, and practicality. Five stars all the way!
So far so good. These bikes our powerful and seem to be well constructed. I used to have a rad power fat tire bike, and I feel that this one is superior all around.
I like it , it's very well built , easy assembly everything works !
Bike is a beast! So far so good, my 15 yr old took over it for now, but I'm about to take it elk hunting in September that's why I bought it, we will see how it performs!
The bike arrived after its long journey in beautiful working order. Craftsmanship upon opening appears to be of excellent quality and once I had everything assembled, it's a great looking and functioning bike. My first ride on it performed great up and down some significant hills both on and off road. My one concern would be the- cable disk brakes. They're quite loud and grinding and don't feel like they have that "put me over the handlebars " kind of stopping power. I should also state however, that this is my first bike with disc brakes, so I don't know if there is a break-in period and they will smooth out? I may consider upgrading to some better hydraulic brakes in the future depending on how these perform this summer.
I've been riding for over a week now and I am amazed at the power this bike has. I weigh 215 lbs. and this bike pushes me up the hills with no effort at all. It's a solid bike, very well made and a pleasure to ride.
So much fun!!! I've been riding it for a week now everyday when I get off work! I get a lot of looks when I speed by people effortlessly lol. It makes riding fun as you can set it to assist you, as little or much as you like. I did get a new seat for mine but besides that, no complaints.
Won this at a fund raising banquet last week! This bike is badass! I love it! First of all It looks cool!! Rode on asphalt, grass and dirt today and this beast handled it no problem! Then decide to ease on back to the house at a brisk 19.7 MPH! Can't wait to ride again! I'm hooked!
I LOVE IT
EASY TO RIDE/LOOKS GREAT
Well, the KOA REV electric fat tire back is about as close as you can get to having a motorcycle, but most people won't think of it as a motorbike and you don't have to hassle with getting a motorcycle license, and better yet, the KOA REV can go many places that a motorbike can't- such as a sidewalk (yes, I know, the pedestrians have right of way) or a mountain trail, or a rough back road. This pseudo motorbike can do it all, at a fraction of the cost of a motorcycle. Who needs to go 65 mph on a motorbike? All you are going to do is get yourself killed or in a wheel chair for life; up to 20 mph is more than enough to get you where you need to go, and allow you to pedal and get exercise in the process, I highly recommend this motorbike. I have had mine for several months now. Best $1700 I ever spent on a bike. Get one today! You won't be sorry. Glen Berry, Eagle, Idaho.
Purchased the Koa 26 "fat tire. I truly enjoy riding it, it brings me back to a time when riding bikes with your childhood chums was fun, adventurous, this bike brought that all bake for me, the misses. I started having problems, I broke the throttle, got ahold of tech support, they sent me another right away, so greatly appreciated, but unfortunately when I receive it, it still came up with a error code, I was upset, reach out to support once again,, once again with a very reasonable time frame they got back to me and helped me figure out what was wrong, within seconds they told me what was wrong, of course it was the simplest fix that I overlooked like an idiot(haha), they had me back on the trails. I would recommend this bike to anyone, I have recommended them to folks that ask about them. I want to give an extra thank you to Colin, in my opinion he definitely went above, beyond, went the extra mile to help me(even a phone call) get it back up and running. I can't say thank you enough, I'd give you a raise if I was his boss. Thank you again. It's only been 4 days and I've put on 15 miles
I am well over the recommended weight limit and it reaches 20 mph with ease. It's just awesome. The wife can't out bike me anymore.
I love this bike! It is the best purchase I have made in quite some time! If I had one complaint is that the front fender moves around and make too much noise but this bike is awesome and I get stopped by people asking about it every time I ride it!
